The former Compagnie Franco - Chérifienne de Navigation has been settled in 1946 with both Moroccan and French fundings. In the early years after the Moroccan Independence, the Moroccan Ministry of Finances progressively increased its share parts in the company until 1959 when it finally took its full control.
The first lines between Tanger (North of Morocco) and Sète (South of France) was inaugurated in 1975. In the 1980’s, COMANAV already owned 34 ships to ensure by-sea crossings between great ports through the world.
